The Ordinary Quick Starter Guide

The Ordinary Starter Guide

Save Time & Money – Ask Deciem for a Regimen

The Ordinary can be really confusing which is why I´ve created this quick starter guide.  I always recommend buying a few products, preferably a set regimen when starting out.  You can also ask Deciem for a personalised regimen via their contact page or join the Deciem Chat Room Facebook Group and post a question there.  Below you will find all the different Deciem Regimens.

If you don´t buy a set regimen you may end up with too many products which conflict so you won’t be able to use them together.  Buy a few, see how you get on and then buy more when and if you need.    It´s good to stick to a routine to really see the benefits.

Skin Type & Skin Concerns

Think about your skin type your skin concerns and be realistic about how many skin concerns you can tackle at once with a serum.  The different skin types are normal, dry, oily, combination and sensitive.  Skin concerns many members of The Facebook Group are trying to tackle include  acne, pigmentation, rosacea, lines and wrinkles, melasma, eczema and many more concerns.

Layering The Ordinary

Read all about Layering The Ordinary here where you can see all The Ordinary products arranged by their different solutions; Water, Oil, Anhydrous, Suspension & Emulsion.  The general rule is from the thinnest / clearest to the thickest / opaque, however, the confusion comes when you add more products and when you find out they conflict.

Sun Creams

It´s really important to use sun cream and avoid direct sun when using these products.  Here´s just a few snippets from the Deciem Website.

“Retinoids can make the skin more sensitive to UV radiation.”

“(Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.”

We have many suggestions for sun creams in the Facebook Group.   I´m sure we can find the perfect sun cream for you.

How Much Product Should I Use?

Well, we all have different size faces but generally a couple of drops should be enough.   If I used a 30ml bottle everyday it would last me around 2-3 months.  If you feel you need more product then add another drop.  You know your skin better than anyone, there´s no right or wrong.  Do what feels right for your skin.

The Ordinary Products

All the ordinary products can be really confusing.  I have listed all the different categories here where you an see them clearly.

The Ordinary Reviews

One thing I´m really passionate about are reviews.  How do we really know who’s telling the truth?  One product will not suit every single person.  We all have different skin types, so join The Ordinary & Deciem Chat Room to talk to many people, some who may even have your skin type and concerns.  Read real reviews by real people.  The truth is, some love them, some hate them and for some they’re just ok.

How Do You Use Yours?

In the Facebook Group we have a list of all The Ordinary products and how everyone uses theirs within a routine.  It´s interesting to see all the different ways people use them, when and how often.
